Healing Prayers

Healing Ministry

Episcopalians believe in healing as a vital part of God’s mission, encompassing both physical and spiritual restoration. We distinguish between “healing” (a process of transformation and wholeness) and curing (the end of disease). Healing is expressed as a gift from God, often experienced through prayer, sacraments, and the community of faith.

Prayer is a central process in Episcopal healing and takes on several forms including and most certainly not limited to:

The Healing Service

A Healing Service is conducted most 3rd Sundays of the month. Within the service, we participate in a healing litany with the opportunity to have laying on of hands and anointing with oil. Both the laying on of hands and the chrism oil are tangible reminders of Christ’s love. We use chrism oil that has been blessed by Bishop Rehberg.

Prayer Chain

The prayer chain is a group of individuals who commit to praying for the needs of others, often for a specific period. Prayer requests are to be submitted to Jamie. This ministry serves as a powerful way to connect with God and offer spiritual support during challenging times.

Prayers of the People

Prayers of the People combine thanksgiving and intercession for the Universal Church, its members, and its mission, the nation and all in authority, the welfare of the world, the concerns of the local community, those who sugar and those in any trouble, and the departed are offered every Sunday Service and change with the church season. In these prayers, we bring the needs of all in the world to God’s loving care.

The Prayer List

The Prayer List is read aloud by the congregation during every Sunday service as we pray for healing for the members of the wider community. If requesting prayers for a person or persons other than yourself, please ask them for permission to add them to the prayer list.

Please contact Karen to have them added.
